Saturday April 15th

Matthew 27:62-66

The Saturday of Passion Week is relatively quiet.  Passover began at sundown on Friday and continued through sundown on Saturday.
For Christ’s disciples, it would be unlawful to go and anoint His hastily lain body with the proper spices and oils until after Passover was over.  For now, all they could do was mourn and ponder the events of the previous day.
Now, looking back at what Jesus had told them before Friday, you would think these men would have recognized that this is exactly how Jesus predicted these things would happen.  But instead, these men were filled with despair and hopelessness.
In the moments where you feel hopeless and abandoned, where do you turn?  We can only imagine what the disciples must have been going through.  Their whole world, everything they had know for the last three years, seems to have crumbled around them.  After seeing all the miracles performed by Jesus, the events of the last 24 hours seemed to be more of a dream than reality.  How could this have happened?
In times like these we tend to be more reserved and introverted.  We tend to pull away from others and, many times, from God as well.  When we do that, we are really just hurting ourselves more.  You see, Christ is big enough to handle our hurts and struggles.  He longs to comfort us and to bring healing to our weary souls.
I don’t know what issues you’re facing today, but you are not alone.  The Lord wants you to bring comfort and peace to your life as you trust in Him.  It doesn’t mean that Jesus will “fix” everything for you, but He will help you make sense out of the chaos.
